Kansas City MO, Dec 11, 2010 – Today MetroAir announced that it will not be renewing a gate leasing agreement with the Kansas City Airport Authority and Southwest Airlines and instead be moving its operations over to A. A spokesperson for MetroAir stated that the airline’s use of the B Terminal gates (which previously were subleased for Metro’s use per an agreement with Southwest Airlines) was always meant to be temporary while the airline worked out various details with the airport while establishing a hub operation.
Metro’s continued use of the gates was put into question earlier this year when Southwest began expanding operations in Kansas City.
MetroAir will begin operating from its own gates in the A Terminal along with United and US Airways starting January 1st, 2011. There are no expected impacts to the airlines flight schedule. Passengers departing from Kansas City can call the airline to confirm the gate from which their flight will be departing if needed.
