Earlier this week the eastern seaboard experienced the effect of Hurricane Sandy, one of the most devastating storms in recent history. Despite efforts to return to normal, many citizens of New York and New Jersey are still experiencing loss of power and some areas where housing was destroyed and families cannot get food.
MetroAir will be flying relief flights to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy bringing supplies and volunteers from the Fort Lauderdale area to Atlantic City and the surrounding areas of New Jersey to help with relief efforts. The charter flights will be operating through Wednesday October 7th.
MetroAir/Matt has pledged to donate $1 for each relief flight flown this weekend to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Pilots looking to make their own contributions can visit http://www.redcross.org/sandy. Pilots who live close to the area affected by the storm are encouraged to consider volounteer opportunities by visiting http://www.nycservice.org/ or http://www.state.nj.us/governor/news/news/552012/approved/20121029b.html.
