MetroAir Virtual Announces Royals, Cubs Partnership

KANSAS CITY, MO – MetroAir Virtual has announced today new multi-year partnerships with the Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs to become sponsors of each team and to spread the global awareness of each brand.  Starting this 2014 season, MetroAir will be transporting both the Royals and Cubs staff, players, and media to all road games. Throughout the six month season, MetroAir will fly the Royals and Cubs over 70,000 miles to multiple cities across the country. The sponsorship deal will see MetroAir Virtual marketing materials placed throughout both Kauffman Stadium and Wrigley Field such as billboards, named seating areas, and video ads.

The partnership with the Kansas City Royals comes after many years of support for MetroAir’s hometown team. After MetroAir moved its headquarters to Kansas City in 2010, an A319 was painted in a Royals livery to show support for the team and to thank the city for their warm welcome. Although this is MetroAir’s first venture into chartering an MLB team, it isn’t their first time chartering a professional sports team. “Over the past few years we have really stepped up our service to be able to provide world-class service to world-class athletes,”

MetroAir’s recent flight operation changes and expansion in Chicago have prompted their partnership with the Cubs. “We are very excited about our move to O’Hare this year and the chance to be a part of both the home and away experience of Cubs games,” said Anders Young, MetroAir’s Director of Media and Marketing. “We are working closely with the City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs to make this transition as smooth as possible.”

On April 30th, MetroAir will begin the charter side of the partnerships by carrying the Royals and Cubs from their spring training locations in Phoenix, AZ to their first games in Detroit and Pittsburgh, respectively. An Airbus A319 will be used for each teams’ travel and the flight schedule will be updated weekly based on the MLB schedule. The Royals charter will operate as MET8192 and the Cubs charter will operate as MET8193.

MetroAir is a virtual airline headquarted in Kansas City, Mo. MetroAir has over 300 daily operations at their Kansas City hub and over 150 daily operations at Chicago O’Hare.
