AUSTIN, TX – During a press conference this morning, MetroAir Virtual Airlines’ Director of Fleet and Route Development Zak Winnick announced new service to South Padre Island, TX via Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport.
To prepare for what is shaping up to be a busy summer in the South, MetroAir has discontinued service from Austin, TX to Shreveport, LA and replaced Shreveport with South Padre Island.
“We’re really excited to launch service to South Padre Island. Not only is it a beautiful destination for vacationers, but rumor has it that SpaceX is going to be building their private launch center just down the road from the airport! That will surely draw lots of visitors and corporate travelers to the area,” stated Winnick during the conference, “Right now, we’re just going to have the one flight, but I think we’ll be seeing expanded service to the area later on down the road.”
The changes to flights 1815 and 1816 are active as of today, May 5, and are operated by an Embraer ERJ-170LR.
