CHICAGO, IL – In conjunction with the start of the MetroAir’s codeshare with Fly UK Virtual Airways, MetroAir Virtual will begin daily scheduled service to Birmingham on December 1st from its East Coast focus city, Chicago-O’hare.
MetroAir stated they will use Boeing 757s on the route, which will be their fourth route to the United Kingdom. Birmingham, England is a city in the West Midlands of England and is the center of England’s second most populous metropolitan area. Birmingham is also home to the United Kingdom’s second largest economic area, following London.
“We are very excited to add Birmingham to our growing list of international destinations,” said COO William Hogarth, “It is another link between us and Fly UK and gives our customers an extensive travel network on both sides of the Atlantic.” Birmingham is one of Fly UK’s Mainstream hubs and offers connections to 25 destinations throughout Europe.
Birmingham airport officials have lured multiple US carriers to the West Midlands with United and American Airlines also entering the Birmingham market this year.
“This new route will not only create more capacity to this vibrant U.S. business and tourist destination, it will also broaden connectivity and choice from the Midlands with MetroAir Virtual Airlines across North America and Canada ,” said Birmingham Airport CEO Paul Kehoe.
