FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – MetroAir Virtual executives proudly announced today plans to begin nonstop service to London-Heathrow from Ft. Lauderdale. The airline plans to operate the flight once daily using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Ft. Lauderdale is MetroAir’s fifth city to see nonstop service to London Heathrow, which has seen an increase in MetroAir activity after a codeshare agreement with FlyUK Virtual Airways was announced in November. Flights 9/10 will increase MetroAir’s total number of movements at Heathrow to 36 per week.
MetroAir will compete with Norwegian Airlines who serves Ft. Lauderdale from London’s Gatwick airport three times weekly on a Boeing 787.
“The numbers show that there is a lot of demand to Europe from South Florida, but the options from Ft. Lauderdale are quite lacking,” said COO William Hogarth, “In addition to FlyUK’s once weekly service to Gatwick, we’re hoping to connect two cities with ever growing demand and offer our passengers another link across the Atlantic.”
The first day of scheduled service is December 26th and will depart Ft. Lauderdale at 6:30pm local time.
