PORTLAND, OR – MetroAir has today announced their second new flight to London-Heathrow in as many days. Flights will begin on September 1st and will be operated by an Airbus A330-200. This marks the first ever regularly scheduled nonstop service between Portland and the UK.
Portland will be the seventh US city from which MetroAir flies to London-Heathrow, following Baltimore, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, and Boston. Just yesterday, MetroAir announced a new business class-only service between Boston and London aboard a specially customized Airbus A319.
William Hogarth, Chief Operating Officer of the airline, said “To be in a position to anounce two new trans-Atlantic flights in two days is a statement of this airline’s position.
Portland Mayor Charlie Hales added: “London is the most requested international destination from Portland International Airport, and we are very pleased to be announce a direct link between the two cities. The MetroAir Virtual Airlines announcement to begin nonstop service will be well received by both business and leisure travelers in the region.”
Frequent FlyUK travelers will now be able to easily travel to Portland through codeshare with MetroAir, while Portland travelers will have a one-stop journey to over 100 European and African destinations.
