WASHINGTON D.C. – MetroAir Virtual Airlines has submitted an application today to the U.S. Department of Transportation for commercial air service on 7 routes between the U.S. and Cuba.
“MetroAir offers the public the best possible service options between Cuba, the U.S., and points beyond,” explained MetroAir CMO Anders Young, “MetroAir is the natural choice to be awarded frequencies to Cuba based our excellent service and strong brand recognition.”
Federal aviation officials plan on awarding a total of 20 slot pairs to Havana from the U.S., as well as numerous other slot pairs to secondary Cuba cities for a total of 110 daily slot pairs between the U.S. and Cuba. Officials have stated the awarded slots will be announced by March 14th.
MetroAir has applied for 11 daily frequencies connecting 3 Cuba cities to 4 U.S. cities. The breakdown of the application is as follows:
Fort Lauderdale – Havana: 5x daily
Los Angeles – Havana: 2x daily
Boston – Havana: 1x daily
Fort Lauderdale – Veradero: 1x daily
Boston -Veradero: 1x daily
Kansas City – Veradero: 1x daily
Fort Lauderdale – Santa Clara: 1x daily
